First Bean/El Porto 7-25
Had great fishing this morning at El Porto. The beach is steep now which doesn't seem to make for good water - that might explain why I didn't see
anyone else out there. But I had two on (that I lost due to 'horseing') before I caught my first corbina. Tough fighters, I must say.

Very Nice!
Great job on the bean. Were you sight fishing for them, or did you catch them blind casting?
Each year I have two surf fishing goals:
1. Catch FAIR at least one BSP, WSP, YFC, corbina, and halibut.
STATUS: Everything but the halibut.
2. Catch a fish in the surf every month.
STATUS: Missed February and March.
This year, however, I had a new goal:
3. Sight-fishing to and catching a corbina.
STATUS: Haven't even sighted them, much less fished to one sighted!
I have caught a couple corbina, one was foul hooked, and then last week I caught one fair blind casting. You can see from the picture that it wasn't
anywhere near as big as yours - I am 6'3" but my hands aren't THAT big!
I have been frustrated this year. I haven't even seen corbina sliding on the crab beds. Has anybody out there been seeing them? Is anybody having
success? Any clues on what might be different this year? I am fishing the same beaches and tides that I have seen them on in past years.
Thanks for any info.

Nope
I did see one, veeerry briefly, but it was way too brackish to sight fish (with my level of experience anyway). Caught it completely blind, though as
you can see it wasn't foul hooked.
I'd love to hear how the hell you sight fish Corbina when the water is so brown you can't see a thing. I would assume it's off movement in the
water, but at El Porto the clear water ain't clear and doesn't begin until ten yards out at least.
As I mentioned, I had two on before bringing this one in, and one of those was BIGGER. I don't think it was a bean though, maybe a SNGF as it looked
brown?
