Offshore Fly-fishing Seminar July 31
Floyd Sparks and I are putting on a FREE "Offshore Fly-fishing for Private Boaters" seminar at Bluewater Tackle / San Diego
Fly Shop in Solana Beach on Saturday, July 31.
This is mainly intended for Private Boaters who already fish offshore with conventional gear and are interested in trying saltwater fly-fishing, but
everyone is welcome!
For complete details and directions to the seminar location, go to: http://www.btbff.com/index.php/btbff/Event1/894
In a nutshell...there are going to be two sessions:
=======================================================
Session I = 10:00am - noon: Power Intro to Fly-fishing:
=======================================================
If you want to introduce friends who have never fly-fished before to saltwater fly-fishing, or you're wondering what it's like to cast heavier
saltwater fly gear (10wt+), you should attend this session.
It includes a 1.5 hour casting lesson taught by Capt. John Hendrickson from the San Diego Fly Shop. You can bring your own gear for
the lesson if you want, but we're also going to have a number of demo saltwater fly rods available (provided by Temple Fork Outfitters).
TFO Pro Staffer Capt. Scott Leon will also be there to answer any questions on the gear.
================================================================
Session II = 1:00pm - 3:00pm: Nuts and Bolts Local Offshore on the Fly:
================================================================
Come to this session if you are already familiar with basic fly-fishing, and just want to learn what to do when you fly-fish offshore from a private
boat.
Session II starts with brief presentations covering equipment and fly selection, retrieves, striking and fighting fish, and boat setup (I'll
have my boat there).
It then shifts to an informal round-table discussion / whiteboard talk lead by Floyd Sparks on rigging your gear, and how you would fly-fish
typical offshore Private Boater situations: fly-fishing off a jig strike, fly-fishing kelp paddies, working porpoise and birds with a fly
rod.
Again, this is FREE, and you can come to either or both sessions.
If you can, email/call me to let me know you're coming so we can get a head count. Also, feel free to call or e-mail me if you have any questions.

We'll also be having a drawing for a Scientific Anglers Streamer Express fly line, and free TFO hats...
Hope to see you there!
