Hole in the wall fly shop - San Luis Obispo
I am heading north in a week or so and was going to stop by the "hole in the wall" fly shop in San Luis Obispo. I was there a few years ago and
picked up some flys and advice. I tried calling them but the number is disconnected. Does anyone know if they are still around?

Dan,
The last I heard the shop was closed and they are only doing mail order business. I haven't checked on that for several years though.
If you are going through the Santa Barbara area on your way up to SLO you might stop into The Artful Angler in Carpinteria on Santa Claus Lane. He
might have some information on fishing conditions.

I heard the same - brick and mortar on Higuera St. was closed some time after
I exchanged email with owner Britt Phillips in Nov 2007. The
Hole in the Wall website seems to be gone too.
Tried an email to Santa Lucia Flyfishers for confirmation but have not heard back yet.

yep, Britt Phillips, owner of Hole in the Wall, emailed me that he closed the store and is
using his garage now for internet sales. He changed his cool
website to:
http://web.me.com/brittp2/HitWFlyShop/HitWallFlyShop_Me.html
Good pages on his flies, and on fly fishing for halibut in Port San Luis.
His contact info is on the home page.

Thanks for the info on "Hole in the Wall". I was suspicious that it may be gone. such a shame to lose a good local shop like that.
I will look into the artful angler as I will be right in that area.

there is still hope for the Hole in the Wall
Britt emailed "Closed the retail in SLO and now work out of my garage till another retail locally appears."
