Cardiff State Beach
Due to space limitations I was unable to bring any fly gear on this trip...but I sure wish I would have!
Went swimming with my kids at Cardiff Beach between the San Elijo Inlet and the two restaurants yesterday. The amount of troughs and holes throughout
the surf area was absolutely amazing. The place is screaming to be fished! When I lived here this was my favorite place to fish.
Anyhow...somebody needs to come down and fish this!
A word of caution...I have never in my life seen so many stingrays in one area...despite my best efforts I was stung...

Should we expect anything less from a man who deep wades in shark infested waters armed only with a 6wt.; from a man who everytime he goes surf
fishing dolphins always appear; from a man who can cast any shooting head on any rod... even in a typhoon; from a man who can tie a fly and match the
hatch better than mother nature herself; from a man who... well, you guys get the idea. SteveP. what a guy! His legend precedes him the way lightning
precedes thunder... OK, I'm out.
As SteveP. would say "stay thirsty my friend",

Mr Smouse had one of those rare epic corbina days many moons ago if you flip back through the flicker archives - 5 corbina in one session on an o/w
clouser. One of those events that is in my
memory replay. Happy to get more use out of my gear by a fellow flicker in need, and
who knows, maybe some of his good juju will rub off on my stuff...
Dave,
Aren't you the guy they are referring to when they say "The lights are brighter in Vegas when he's in town" and "The pit boss
hands him the money since it's a foregone conclusion"? Uno,
Dos, Tres Equis - no matter... Did they let you keep your shirt?

Steve,
I'm not a gambler or a partier so Vegas really isn't my town. I was non-stop yawns after about 10pm, but still had a fun time with my friends just
'watching ' and 'learning' the ropes. My wife ended up with a whopping $176 in the green thanks to the roullette table so "even though I didn't
gamble... I still won".
Just tryin' to do the Lord's work in sin city :),

Was all set for a banner day til I started casting...salad on about every cast...didn't matter where I was on the beach. Ended up with one middlin'
BSP and two strong pulls. Will try again tomorrow!
A couple of fellow fly-fishers right at the edge of the San Elijo Inlet (who were out qute a bit further than I wanted to wade!) seemed to be doing
ok...including what looked like a couple of nice ones...

Caught a couple of small hallies (12"-14") this morning on an O/W Clouser as the trough in front of the first restaurant filled up. Beautiful
morning...great to get out and feel something tugging on the end of the line!
