Home Away From Home

I’ve got a reason for believing
I’ve got a hope that I can trust
I put my treasure up in heaven
where no thief can steal
no worm destroy
no rain can rust
It won’t be long and I will be leaving

He began a good work in me
when I put my trust in Him
And from glory unto glory
change my wicked heart
and take away
all of my sin
And make me ready for His coming

And they say the streets are gold
in that city bright and fair
No more sickness, no more hunger
no more dying over there
Like a candle in the darkness
I can almost see the light
from my home away from home

When we gather at that river
and we hear the trumpet sound
and all those who’ve gone before us
and the dead in Christ shall rise
and all will gather round
singing a song that’s like no other

And they say the streets are gold
in that city bright and fair
But when I look upon my Savior
I don’t really think I’ll care
I can almost hear the angels singing
when I close my eyes
from my home away from home

And they say the streets are gold
in that city bright and fair
No more sickness, no more hunger
no more dying over there
Like a candle in the darkness
I can almost see the light
from my home away from home

Draw Me Nearer

From the moment that I rise up
til the time I lay my head
I want to keep my eyes more off of me
and keep them more on you instead
Oh I yield my life a sacrifice
on the altar Lord for You
I want so much to please You Lord
in everything I do

Draw me nearer Lord than I’ve ever been before
Draw me nearer Lord as I seek You more and more
Draw me nearer

As I live my life from day to day
In the decisions that I face
I need Your special wisdom Lord
and I’m counting on Your grace
Oh I yield my will a sacrifice
on the altar Lord for You
I want so much to please You Lord
in everything I choose

Draw me nearer Lord than I’ve ever been before
Draw me nearer Lord as I seek You more and more
Draw me nearer

Just Along for the Ride

Well the preacher spoke to long... and the choir sang out of tune
and I didn’t know the song.. I didn’t know anyone but you
and my mind it wandered to mountains high
man that new boat can really glide
drinking beer with my old friend Mike by the fire light
Shooting deer and old tin cans... make believe I'm a mountain man
I make believe all of life I can, cause I'm dying inside
I am just along for the ride

Well I didn’t know her name... I guess I'd written her off to hell
and she’s gone now just the same... I always said she drank too well
but there’s just no chance for a man like me
with a job and a family
to ring a bell and be neighborly I don't have time
She could of called up the double “A” she should of known better anyway, I couldn’t think of anything to say, cause I'm dying inside
I am just along for the ride

Where is the peace that God has promised me ?
Where is the power I once had known ?
Where is my peace and my prosperity ?
Am I riding alone... Have I reaped what I’ve sown ?

And when I see my coming king... and there’s no place left to hide
I will have no gift to bring... cause I'm just along for the ride
I am just along for the ride
I am just along for the ride

Heartbeat

I'm listening to my heartbeat I'm trying to hear what it might say
Am I standing on my own feet just trying to live life my own way
My mind is filled with apprehension it seems I fail so easily
I'm listening to my heartbeat I'm trying to see how I believe

Have I waned in my commitment thinking only of myself
have I taken gifts you’ve given and put them on a shelf

I'm listening to my heartbeat I'm trying to see what it might tell
Have I filled it up with good things or is it full of things from hell
My feet are weary from the journey its getting dark and hard to see
I can hear somebody knocking but I cannot find the key

I am heading for the fountain where living waters flow
there I’ll plunge beneath the water. There you’ll wash me white as snow

Search me oh God only you know my heart
Try me and know my thoughts
See if there be any wicked way in me
Rise in my heart just like the morning star
Shining in the dark
Now I can see, set me free, create in me

I'm listening to my heartbeat

How Tedious and Tasteless

How tedious and tasteless the hours
when Jesus no longer I see
Sweet prospects, sweet birds and sweet flowers
have all lost their sweetness to me
The mid-summer sun shines but dim
The fields strive in vain to look gay
But when I am happy with Him
December’s as pleasant as May

Content with beholding His face
my all to His pleasure resigned
no changing of season or place
would make any change in my mind
While blessed with a sense of His love
a palace a toy would appear
And prisons would palaces prove
if Jesus would dwell with me there

Dear Lord, if indeed I am Thine
if Thou art my sun and my song
say why do I languish and pine
And why are my winters so long
Oh drive these dark clouds from my sky
Thy soul-cheering presence restore
Or take me unto Thee on high
where winter and clouds are no more

Whisper of the Wind

My savior speaks to me... through words from history
I know his promises are true to the end.
Words on a gentle breeze... speak truth and life to me
and I can hear it... in the whisper of the wind.

In the whisper of the wind
I find the courage and the strength I need
In the whisper of the wind
a light unto my path and a lamp unto my feet
In the whisper of the wind
and what he promises, with my whole heart I’ll believe
I can hear him in the whisper of the wind

Come Holy Spirit show... things that my heart must know
to be your faithful servant to the end.
Show me your precious will... lord I’ll be listening till
I can hear it... in the whisper of the wind

In the whisper of the wind
I know you’ll open up my ears to hear
In the whisper of the wind
silencing voices that cause my heart to fear
In the whisper of the wind
call to my spirit in a voice so sweet and clear
I can hear him in the whisper of the wind

In the whisper of the wind
I find the courage and the strength I need
In the whisper of the wind
a light unto my path and a lamp unto my feet
In the whisper of the wind
and what he promises, with my whole heart I’ll believe
I can hear him in the whisper of the wind
whisper of the wind
I can hear him in the whisper of the wind
whisper of the wind
I can hear him in the whisper of the wind

How Great Thou Art

Now that I am older, grayer
I can see more clearly how
All the years of my young rebellion fade
I am more mellow now
Still my heart is prone to wander
even though my soul’s been freed
It seems the closer that I get to You
the more I see my need
I could never live without You
You give so abundantly

Like a river, overflowing to my heart
My Forgiver, Healer, Savior
Oh how great Thou art

A little slower in my judgment
A little quicker with my hands
A little more desire and hunger
to know and obey Your commands
Even in my worst of moments
You pour out Your love on me

Like a river, overflowing to my heart
My Forgiver, Healer, Savior
Oh how great Thou art

I could never live without You
You give so abundantly

Like a river, overflowing to my heart
My Forgiver, Healer, Savior
Oh how great Thou art

Roaring Lions

When the kings go out to battle
and the soldiers go to war
he was up among the rooftops
knowing what he’d come there for
And he filled his heart with wishes
and as night gave way to morn
a man was dead and a babe was born
And lions roared

You can joke about the menu
You can read your magazine
You can hide behind the window
where you never will be seen
They will find you on the cable
after a long hard day at work
But take care, the man of God
fell with a look

There’s no time for hesitating
Oh be diligent this hour
Roaring lions, they are waiting
seeking whom they may devour

When the kings go out to battle
and the soldiers go to war
will you walk among the rooftops
knowing what you’ve come there for
And will you fill your heart with wishes
and as night gives way to morn
hear lions roar

There’s no time for hesitating
Oh be diligent this hour
Roaring lions, they are waiting
seeking whom they may devour

Where Would I Be Without Jesus?

Alone and lonely, in quietness
wondering who would even care
for a man in a mess like this
I’m tired and weary of sin and woe
with no one left to turn to
and no where else to go
But then I heard a still small voice
crying quietly within
saying I really had a choice
and I could be free from all my sin

Oh, where would I be without Jesus
and what would I do without Him
I’d be off on my own in a world all alone
burdened down by the weight of all my sin
Where would I be without His love
and without His loving hand to guide my way
Oh He took all my sin when I gave my heart to Him
and now He’s given me a brand new life in Jesus

All my sorrow He took away
and He filled my life with gladness
and strength for every day
So many blessings, I ne’er could tell
how he saved my life from emptiness
and saved my soul from Hell
Oh, my tongue cannot be silent
after all He’s done for me
I must tell this lost and dying world
how Jesus rescued me

Oh, where would I be without Jesus
and what would I do without Him
I’d be off on my own in a world all alone
burdened down by the weight of all my sin
Where would I be without His love
and without His loving hand to guide my way
Oh He took all my sin when I gave my heart to Him
and now He’s given me a brand new life in Jesus

Come Listen My Son

Come listen my son and I’ll tell you the truth.
Though some may deny to the end.
How God in his wisdom created the world,
and from the dust of the earth made he men.

And he held out his hand and he spoke the word,
and behold the foundations were laid.
He has shown his love and his majesty
in the wonderful things he has made.

Tell me how high is the mountain. How deep is the sea .
How long does the green river run.
How wide is the prairie. How tall is the tree.
How warm is the light of the sun.
How loud is the thunder that cracks the sky.
How bright is the lightning so white.
How dark is the deep of the ocean blue.
How silent the still of the night.
How silent the still of the night.

In the sun on my face, I feel the warmth of his mercy and grace.
and in the depth of his love find my place
In my God who so wonderfully made me.

Who forms he the babe in the belly of a whale.
Who guides as the geese fly at night.
Who turns the burnt hillside from black into green
and give the stars in the heavens their light.

He held out his hand and he spoke the word,
and behold the foundations were laid.
He has shown his love and his majesty
in the wonderful things he has made.
In the wonderful things he has made.

Die For You

Sometimes I choose to fail, I turn my face and hide away
Somehow I can’t recall the gift I know in love You gave
A hunger lingers for the life I knew before
but still a greater hunger leads me on to more

I want to die for You...Die to all my foolish plans
Die to everything this world demands of me
I want to die for You...Count the best I have as loss
I willingly take up my cross to follow You

Where is the boy I was, the dreamer with his lofty plans
In mediocrity, he fades beneath routine demands
Unless a grain of wheat falls in the ground to die
it cannot bear the fruit that brings eternal life

I want to die for You...Die to all my foolish plans
Die to everything this world demands of me
I want to die for You...Count the best I have as loss
I willingly take up my cross to follow You
I want to die for You

I want to die for You...Die to all my foolish plans
Die to everything this world demands of me
I want to die for You...Count the best I have as loss
I willingly take up my cross to follow You
I want to die for You

And He Calls

I can see it in their faces
I can read it in their eye
Sin has left the traces
Of its bitter lies

Running everywhere in all directions
Trying just some peace to find
And the answers to the questions
They have on their minds

Chorus
And He calls…
Saying, Come unto Me
Ye who labor and are burdened down
Can you hear him knocking at the door?
I am meek…
I am lowly, oh, come to Me
Come I am the Way
You will find the rest you’re looking for

Well some are disillusioned
Some are overcome with sin
Some they grew, but withered
Blowin in the wind
Some, they stopped believing
And others never could
And some, they just grew weary
In their doing good

And He calls…
Saying, Come unto Me
Ye who labor and are burdened down
Can you hear him knocking at the door?
I am meek…
I am lowly, oh, come to Me
Come I am the Way
You will find the rest you’re looking for

Song in the Night

Oh this world is full of woe as I'm sure you surely know
Full of doubt and full of fear, full of danger far and near
But in the darkness of the storm he will keep you safe from harm
For He gives us a song in the night

In the darkness of the night I hear Him calling
With a melody so sweet making everything alright
When I'm weary worn and weak and I fear falling
Oh He gives me a song in the night

Oh the hearts of men will fail them even as the prophets said
And their cares will overtake them full of fear and full of dread
But He never fails the faithful yes He lifts them up instead
And He gives them a song in the night

In the darkness of the night I hear Him calling
With a melody so sweet making everything alright
When I'm weary worn and weak and I fear falling
Oh He gives me a song in the night

In the darkness of the night I hear Him calling
With a melody so sweet making everything alright
When I'm weary worn and weak and I fear falling
Oh He gives me a song in the night

He'll Make a Way

Oh this world is full of evil, it’s getting worse with everyday
So many voices calling to us trying to divert us from the way
We must ready for the battle with His armor and His sword
He’ll make a way that we can do it and give glory to our Lord

*And His love comes fallin down
As He turns our wanderin heart around
He’s gonna make a way
He’ll make a way
He’ll make a way
He’ll make a way

Oh our enemy will defeat us if we let him have his way
Take all the joy that God can give us take all the strength we have away
Hide our candle under a bushel and shout our failure from a hill
But we’ve gotta take what God can give us and resist him with all our will

And His grace comes fallin down
As He turns our weakened heart around
He’s gonna make a way
He’ll make a way
He’ll make a way
He’ll make a way

Instrumental  (Repeat First chorus*)

Everafter

After my rise from evil
Out of the darkness into the light
Leaving behind the places and people
Turning from wrong to find what is right
Breaking the chains that bind me
Going against the thinking of the day
Weighing the consequence of what I see
Looking to Him for all I think and do and say

Chorus

There is a battle to be won there is a fight to overcome
There is a time to stand a time to kneel and pray
There is a contest for the right, there is a candle burning bright
And I’ve gotta live my life, pointing to the way ever after

Putting on my armor
Standing against the evil in my way
Wearing the righteousness of my Father
Looking to Him for all I think and do and say

Break
I know he will be with me, I know he will be near me
I know he will be in me, I know he will be all I need

There is a battle to be won there is a fight to overcome
There is a time to stand a time to kneel and pray
There is a contest for the right there is a candle burning bright
And I’ve gotta live my life pointing to the way ever after

Still the Savior of My Soul

I’m tired of my sin
I’m tired of my weakness
I am weary of dealing with my pride
And everywhere I look people are living in a prison
Trying anything to distract them from their lives

So I will raise my hands to the One Who rescues me
And I will give my heart to the One Who’ll make it holy
And I will yield my will to the One Who sets me free
Oh Jesus, You’re still the Savior of my soul

I need to be a better father
I need to be a better husband
I need to be a better witness and a light
I want to share the love of Jesus with the dying ones around me
I want to know Him and His fullness in my life

So I will raise my hands to the One Who rescues me
And I will give my heart to the One Who’ll make it holy
And I will yield my will to the One Who sets me free
Oh Jesus, You’re still the Savior of my (soul)

So I raise my hands to the One Who rescues me
And I will give my heart to the One Who’ll make it holy
And I will yield my will to the One Who sets me free
Oh Jesus, You’re still the Savior of my soul
